Hi all!
I am part of a civic tech group working on a public dashboard that visualizes real-time bus & train locations. One major challenge we’re facing is that many local municipalities either don’t release real-time GTFS-RT data / provide it only under restrictive licenses that block public reuse.
We’ve reached out to a few transport authorities & while some are open to the idea; they often cite technical, legal / contractual limitations with their IT vendors. We are looking for examples, strategies, or success stories from other cities or regions where open transport data was successfully released / unlocked through advocacy or technical support. Checked Kategorien - OKF-Forum JIRA Training guide related to this and found it quite informative.
Are there any resources or playbooks focused on opening up mobility data, especially in smaller cities? We’d appreciate suggestions on how to approach these conversations with public agencies in a constructive, evidence-backed way.
Thank you !!
